Descripción del producto Misfits S1 Tienda Though they wear the orange jumpsuits associated with community service, there's more to the trash-talking juvenile offenders of the BBC's Misfits than meets the eye (a scenario that recalls the similarly salty Attack the Block). While on their first job, lightning strikes the gang, and four of the delinquents find they've developed superpowers, making them a cross between The Breakfast Club and The X-Men. Slang-spouting Kelly (Lauren Socha) can read minds, socially inept Simon (Ian Curtis doppelgänger Iwan Rheon) can turn invisible, track star Curtis (Nathan Stewart-Jarrett) can reverse time, and self-obsessed Alisha (Antonia Thomas) becomes sexually irresistible. Irish loudmouth Nathan (Robert Sheehan), however, appears to have gotten away power-free, and when his mom kicks him out of the house, he sleeps at the community center after hours. Unfortunately, the meteorological phenomenon also transforms their probation worker, Tony, into a raving loony, so they put a stop to his rampage, hide the evidence, and return to work under the watchful eye of Sally (Alex Reid), his replacement. Though they were acting in self-defense, they doubt anyone will believe their story. As the six episodes unfurl, they encounter other storm-transformed locals, which leads to romantic complications for Nathan, a hairy surprise for Kelly, and a Groundhog Day-like experience for Curtis, who learns that it isn't always wise to try to change fate. The revved-up theme from the Rapture, moody song selections from Joy Division and Nick Drake, and proliferation of prudish pod people at the end has contributed to a devoted following among viewers who prefer their scares with a little snogging and a lot of suggestive dialogue--it can also be unexpectedly poignant, particularly where Simon and Nathan are concerned. In its first season, Howard Overman's creation won the British equivalent of the Emmy, the BAFTA, for best drama series. --Kathleen C. Fennessy
