About the Artist Cynthia Lawing, Pianist Cynthia Lawing, a native of Hong Kong, began her piano studies at the age of four. She received her formal training at The Cleveland Institute of Music where she studied with Vitya Vronsky and secured advanced degrees in both Piano and Dalcroze Eurythmics. Her performance career has taken her throughout the United States, where she is highly respected as a concert soloist. She has appeared with numerous orchestras, including The Cleveland Orchestra, the Charlotte Symphony and the Hong Kong Philharmonic. Lewis Deaton, Organist Lewis Deaton holds music performance degrees from Davidson College and The Peabody Conservatory of Johns Hopkins University. His organ teachers include Wilmer Hayden Welsh, Cherry Rhodes, Donald Sutherland, and Calvin Hampton. He has performed numerous solo organ recitals during his career, and has served as organist/choirmaster of churches in New York City, Baltimore, and North Carolina. In New York he has also appeared in the off-broadway theatre as a music director and actor, and has recorded organ works for cinematic soundtracks.
