This stand does fit the Makita Planer well. It is maybe too short for almost everybody in USA, maybe the Japanese have short carpenters that like their power tools low to the ground. If used with rolling wheels that raise things up a bit, then things are a little better. Assembly is counter intuitive, with poor instructions. You will need a shop with clamps, punches, etc. and a lot of time to think your way through assembly. The end result is a stand that fits Makita a bit better than the Harbor Freight stand, and is stronger, but is seriously short. The stand can be trued straight and level and square, but you need to be a good sheet metal worker to get there.

The design is exceptionally simple. I don't expect much from this design, but the holes lined up on the first try and the planer stands stable while feeding 4' jointed stock. I can accept the instructions are mediocre, but operating a planer requires much more technical skills than are required to assemble this stand completely without any instructions. (I admit I found 'the instruction' sheet while cleaning after completing the assembly entirely)

A little tricky to assemble, specifically the order of putting the legs on, but once I figured it out it went very well. Nicely machined, screw holes all lined up and it turns out to be heavier gauge metal than I'd thought. Very pleased!!

(Update: the casters I used ended up bending the feet a bit and were not a good idea, you can see in the picture I uploaded that i added lower supports, mdf painted black, and decided to bolt it to an mdf platform with casters on the bottom instead. It worked great and added about $25 to the cost. )I am impressed with the quality and design of this stand. It is perfect for my planer. I added casters that make it a little taller and a board on top (mdf) because my planer is not Makita.This is not hard to put together if you are patient and have tools, it is easy to figure out, it is strong.This is a great option.

It is a solid stand once you get it put together. Some holes didn't match up one had to drill out a coupey to make it square.

After reading the other reviews, I still bought this stand. Everyone that had anything to do with designing, first article, QA and manufacturing this stand should be fired. All the tooling holes are off at least 1/8".The tools you will need are, wrench, hammer and a drill to enlarge the bolt holes. There wasn't any instructions,but really didn't need them since they wouldn't tell you to beat the hell out of the legs to help make them fit,not fit, but help them fit.I would not recommend this stand. It does have a nice paint job.

The dimensions in the product description are incorrect. They are the dimensions of the shipping container. The actual dimensions of the stand when assembled are 19 1/2 inches wide X 13 inches deep at the top. It stands 22 inches high. This is quite low unless you are a very short person, but it is workable. The Makita 2012NB planer matches up perfectly with the mounting holes and there are other holes for other machines, although none match any I have. It seems sturdy. It was a chore to assemble and a lot of elbow grease is required to get the bolt holes in the framework to line up. Also, no instructions in the box, although it is easy to figure out.I would have given it another star if it had been six or seven inches higher when assembled.
