Skyrocket

On this album, Vizzutti has some of the best rhythm supporters, including the great Chick Corea.. His overall group sound is reminiscent of early 80's hard-fusion with intense rhythm ala' Corea. The only downside is that the ambience of the recordings sound dated at times (tone of the bass playing in particular). If you want that old school hard fusion era sound than consider this an upside. By far the most noticeable characteristic is Allen Vizzutti's articulation and phrasing - original, lyrical and forceful, with range, range, range (hence the title, "Skyrocket"). Vizzutti has a softer side on flugelhorn performances, particularly on ballads, to compliment the bright playing of his other horns.
