I’ve been taking Optimum Nutrition HMB 1000 Caps for almost a month now, and I can honestly say I’m starting to notice a difference. The biggest change for me has been quicker recovery between workouts. At 65 years old, that’s huge — I used to deal with more muscle soreness and occasional cramps between training sessions, but since starting HMB, that’s been noticeably reduced.As for strength, it’s harder to judge since performance can vary day to day, but the consistent improvement in recovery has made my workouts feel more manageable and enjoyable. Overall, this product has been a solid addition to my supplement routine, and I plan to keep using it.

I haven't read any reviews on this stuff in a long time. From my previous knowledge and current experience, HMB is good for the first month or two of strength and mass gaining then it tapers off. Some people may have different stories, but if they have been at it a while, I doubt this helped them much, unless they really up their game and/or it had a placebo affect. I think most research and most users, only get that real benefit during that first few months, and really only for about two months of using this. That doesn't mean it doesn't help beyond that, but I am pretty sure for the cost, you have other options that will do you better. I have used it before and definitely got results. I saw this one recommended in a bodybuilding forum and, after passing a very thorough Google search into safety and efficacy, I decided to give it a whirl. I purchased a bottle in late October 2013 and wasn't the best about taking as recommended (3 a day with each meal), but was pretty good about taking at least two per day. I took 2 capsules/day for the first bottle (45 days) and i'm half way through a 2nd bottle. You won't feel any difference with regards to performance or energy. However, i put myself on a bread & beer free diet for 2-1/2 months & never lost ANY size in my arms.This is not a weight loss supplement nor an energy enhancer but it simply helps to maintain size while cutting. I have cut 20+lbs a number of times and each time have had to sacrifice arms, chest & leg size reduction as part of the diet process.Not this time. Zero side effects. Since i started with two caps a day it seems like my recovery time has been shortened. Sometimes even right after a normal workout that would usually leave me feeling pretty drained I feel like I can keep going. I also feel more fullness in my muscles after a workout (more of a "pump").So for now I'm quite happy with it and will continue to use it and evaluate. I think this is an OK product. From what I have seen and heard, Optimum Nutrition seems to be a solid company (I realize this is opinion open to rebuttal). So I think this product does have the dose of HMB advertised. But like most supplements of the bodybuilding kind, it is usually difficult to tell if something is really working at an above average level. To put this in context, when I have tried certain brands of creatine (promera con crete comes to mind), or pre-workout mixes (for example Cellucor C4), I noticed immediate short term benefits. Or when I stopped taking a multi-vitamin (was taking Universal Animal Pak at the time), and a week later noticed that I had a more difficult time getting out of bed and energy levels had declined. I have no medical background so this is purely a layman's review. I am old (61) and decided to try this because of the "Ensure Muscle" product advertising (EM is too expensive and too high in calories). I'm semi-retired so I do put in a lot of gym time. After about 10 months of weight training and cardio and taking HMB for the last four months, I can say that I'm in the best shape of my life. I'm more ripped than I ever thought I could be at my age.
