I have done a lot of plumbing jobs over the years and this was my first use of anything other than traditional copper and soldered fittings. I will NEVER go back to solder again, these things are freakin' amazing! They are easy to use and much faster than soldered joints, plus you have the added benefit of being able to disconnect the fitting if necessary and redo it. I was a bit skeptical at first because no matter how careful I have been, I've had my share of leaking soldered fittings that had to be resoldered, but after installing a house full of Sharkbite fittings - NOT ONE LEAK! I'M SOLD FOREVER! I highly recommend Sharkbite!

I used these 90 degree Sharkbite in between joists in the basement to attach Pex A tubing to copper pipe. It took a little muscle to push the Sharkbite onto the copper and some force to shove the Pex into the Sharkbite. I was unable to remove the inner strengthening sleeve for the side going onto the copper pipe. I called Sharkbite and they said to just use needle nose pliers to pull the sleeve out. But I could not do that and did not want to damage the internals of the Sharkbite. So I have a little more constriction of water on the copper side of the fitting. Probably not a concern. Just plan on using the Sharkbite with the internal sleeve on all tubing and don't try to remove it.

This was my first use of shark bite connectors and I was very pleased with the ease of installation. No leaks and simple push to connect. My only issue was that at the connection, you must be able to align the tubing very straight. I ended up with an angle that didn't allow me to make the last connection, but then it was pretty easy to release the connectors and change the order of fittings so they were all straight.

Long ago when I first tried using SharkBite connectors I had my doubts about them, I mean really a push on connector that won't leak? But it's true. I don't know how much easier doing plumbing can be. I've used the PEX copper ring crimp on connectors and in tight spaces getting the crimp tool in there can be difficult and even make poor crimps and have to redo them.With any SharkBite push to connect that isn't a problem. You simply push them on and job done with no leaks. I have some that are over ten years old and still no problems or leaks. I just installed a water softener system and had to remove a couple of the push on connector which was done using the SharkBite removal tool and was able to reuse those fitting... and still no leaks from them.

For small example if used properly you can take a job that minimum 2hrs out of your day with glue, purple cloths stains and depending on the type of pipes you have requires this or that; to a job that's if installing only one to two and some knowledge how to use them as to many to be very simple to a 2-10min job giving room for obstacles to throw themselves at you. Brass ones aren't always cheap but in the long run last far longer then the plastic ones. I have a few of these installed on different locations. Never had to replace or adjust them once fitted. With shark bites however remember to have the required tool or knowledge to remove them without damages and they can be cleaned and reused. Not gonna lie. When I first got these I was concerned about leaks and waking up to my basement flooding as I had never used them. I'm used to either brazing copper pipes or priming and gluing pvc tubing. I'm a bit of a control guy and when I moved into my house years ago had ripped out the horror that was the tubing entering my basement from the well pump.. put in a whole house filter, pressure tank, other, removable filters and carbon filters, water softener etc. After years of use the softener had given up and the mechanisms sprung leaks all over. I wanted to take that out and instead put in an iron removing filter as our sinks and toilets need constant scrubbing with some of our lighter clothes becoming "work on the car" items due to staining. I live in an older home with copper piping. A pin hole leak can quickly add expense to my water bill and cause damage. After I had yet another leak and called the plumber yet again I was told it would be a few days I would have to wait. I called another and he didnt show up.
