There was a time when a lot of people considered close-harmony duet singing, the most demanding of all country forms, to be the very soul of country music. For years The Delmore Brothers, Blue Sky Boys, Callahan Brothers, Monroe Brothers, and Louvin Brothers recorded beautiful and emotive close-harmony songs. The Whitstein Brothers have picked up the mantle of the brother duet tradition and carried it into the present. The Whitsteins’ 1985 Rounder debut presents their breathtaking vocals in the fine company of Jerry Douglas, Blaine Sprouse and others.
