About the Artist Formed in 1990, Five by Design features the vocal artistry of Lorie Carpenter-Niska, Catherine Farr-Scott, Kurt Niska, Michael Swedberg, and Terrence Niska. The Minneapolis-based vocal quintet produces original musical theatre programming for symphony orchestras and big bands. The fivesome’s productions of Club Swing and Radio Days has performed with more than 110 orchestras throughout the U.S. and Canada.
