Classic early 20th Century Italian 1 Lire issued during the reign of Victor Emmanuel III of Savoy whose patron goddess appears on the front holding an olive branch and a statue of Winged Victory. Between the size of a U.S. quarter and half dollar. Excellent collectible condition (Almost Uncirculated) with very clear details. A wonderful century old gem from Italy! Obverse: Female draped seated figure facing left; holding a little statue of a winged victory in the lowered left hand, and an olive branch in the outstretched right hand. Lettering divided by figure, date below exergue line. At the right of the pillar, the name of the author and of the engraver. Script: Latin. Lettering: ITALIA 1922 G.ROMAGNOLI A.MOTTI.INC. Reverse: Value on two lines, with crowned Savoy Shield at left. Mintmark below. All in a circle of laurel branches. Script: Latin. Lettering: BVONO DA L.1 R. Edge: reeded
